Hi Cork Cultural Companions Welcome to the Triskel Cinema Newsletter. The Fantastical Cinema of Tim Burton, a special season dedicated to the iconic director, continues this week with a Saturday evening screening of Beetlejuice! In this madcap dark comedy, recently deceased couple Adam and Barbara enlist the services of ‘bio-exorcist’ and general menace Beetlejuice, hoping to rid their house of the newly arrived Deetz family - but things quickly turn chaotic. Incredibly entertaining and full of amazing production design, Beetlejuice boasts wonderful performances from Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Winona Ryder and the late, great Catherine O’Hara. Triskel Arts Centre and Crawford Art Gallery are thrilled to bring film/visual art programme Artists Film International 2026: A Kind of Power to Triskel Cinema this August. Bringing together artists and cultural organizations from around the world, this programme presents works which examine how systems of power influence the ways we in which we look, and the conditions under which we ourselves are seen. AFI 2026: A Kind of Power begins on Tuesday 11 August, with five fantastic shorts screening in Triskel Christchurch (admission is free and non-ticketed). This programme will be looping throughout the day from 10am to 3.30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays - call in and check them out!
