Experience the Opening Performance of an casadh – A Celebration of Art, Nature and Connection
This summer, audiences are invited to experience a unique and thought-provoking new work with the opening performance of an casadh (The Turn), an immersive artistic experience exploring themes of nature, care, transformation, and connection.
Created by artist Laura Ní Fhlaibhín and curated by The Glucksman, an casadh brings together sculpture, live performance, and ecological ideas to create a powerful reflection on the relationships between humans, the environment, and the living world. The work explores cycles of change and renewal, inviting audiences to consider the hidden processes that sustain life around us.
The opening performance offers visitors the opportunity to step into a carefully crafted world where art, ritual, and the natural environment meet. Through Ní Fhlaibhín’s distinctive approach, audiences are encouraged to slow down, observe, and engage with ideas of growth, restoration, and interconnectedness.
Set within the wider context of Cork Midsummer Festival, an casadh reflects the festival’s celebration of creativity, experimentation, and community. The project has been developed through collaboration with researchers and local groups, bringing together artistic practice, ecological thinking, and shared knowledge.
Whether you are passionate about contemporary art, interested in environmental themes, or simply looking for a memorable cultural experience, this opening performance offers something different, a chance to encounter a work that is both visually engaging and deeply reflective.
