Cork Cultural Companions is an Age & Opportunity Arts initiative, delivered by Muintir Cork and supported by the HSE and Cork City and County Councils. Cork Cultural Companions has local networks of members who attend events together regularly in Cork City, Mallow, Bantry and East Cork.

Cork Cultural Companions at the Cork Summer Show 2025


The Cork Summer Show 2025 is just around the corner, taking place on Saturday, June 14th, and Sunday, June 15th at the Munster Agricultural Society Showgrounds in Curraheen . This historic event, running since 1806, celebrates the best of Irish agriculture, industry, and community spirit.

This year, Cork Cultural Companions is thrilled to be part of the festivities. Our members/volunteers will be present to share information about our initiative:

  • Saturday (June 14th): Visit us at the Cork City Council tent, where Niamh, Laetitia, Siobhan, and Norma will be on hand throughout the day

  • Sunday (June 15th): Find us at the Cork County Council tent, with Nuala, Margaret, and Phil ready to greet you.

In addition to our presence, the show offers a plethora of activities:

  • Field of Dreams: Engage with the students from Down Syndrome Cork’s Field of Dreams, who will provide horticultural tips and offer souvenir potted herbs in compostable cups.

  • Live Entertainment: Enjoy performances from artists like Mundy and culinary demonstrations by TikTok star Edgar Kirby.

  • Competitions & Exhibits:  showjumping, floral displays, and baking contests 

With an anticipated attendance of over 50,000 people , the Cork Summer Show promises a weekend filled with fun, learning, and community engagement.
