Have Your SayCork County Council Arts Plan Public ConsultationThe new Cork County Arts Plan 2025-2029 will set out the direction, priorities and goals that will guide Cork County Council’s investment and services in the arts over the next five years. In July the Arts Office team held public consultations in various towns in the county and gathered valuable contributions and insights from artists and members of the public. There is still time to take part in this consultation process by completing our survey and making a submission on how you would like Cork County Council to develop its role in local arts provision in the coming years. The closing date for submissions is Friday the 16th of August. Kinsale Library Public Art CommissionCork County Library and Arts Services invites professional artists, designers and craft makers working individually or as part of an artistic team to propose an artwork for Kinsale Library. The selected work will be installed on the large white wall on the ground floor opposite the entrance. While there is no specific theme for this project applicants are asked to consider the context of the library, its users and the town when developing their proposal. A Public Art working group has been formed comprising representatives from the Library, Arts and Architects sections of Cork County Council. The working group has decided that the commission will be for a permanent artwork The budget for the commission is €32,000. This will cover artists fees, design development, fabrication, supply and installation, artists insurance, VAT, expenses and any other expenditure the commissioned artist may require in order to complete the commission. DEADLINE: 20th August 2024 at 5pm Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre Artists Residency Programme 2025 Image courtesy of the artist, Fiona Boniwell Cork County Council Residency 2025 Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre in partnership with Cork County Council invite submissions for a 4 week studio residency from a practicing artist who is resident in any part of the Cork County administrative area. The residency supports artists seeking an opportunity to research and develop their practices and to engage in dialogue with Uillinn, other organisations in Cork, the local community and general public. This is a non-accommodation residency. The artist will receive a stipend of €2,500 towards their residency and will share their work with the public via a number of events over the course of the residency. Discover the Power of Art Image courtesy Uilinn Tomasz Madajczak, a multimedia artist is thrilled to announce that he has received an Arts Council Bursary Award to research and develop his practice in collaboration with young creatives. As part of the research, Tomasz will be hosting a series of multidisciplinary workshops for young people aged 13-18 to explore the natural potential for creativity, creation and artistic improvisation. It will be a unique opportunity for aspiring young artists to explore the world of multidisciplinary art guided by professional artists. Participants will be given the space, materials and skills to explore their imagination and embrace artistic improvisation. The workshop series will take place at Uillinn: West Cork Art Centre from 6th to 9th and 12th to 16th August, 2024 from 11am to 4pm. The cost is just €10 and spaces are limited. To book: email info@westcorkartscentre.com Summer Arts ProgrammeMillies Moonlight Adventure Cork County Council’s Library and Arts Service Summer Arts Programme continues with events being held in libraries across the county in August. Millie’s Moonlight Adventure by Terry Dineen takes place Kinsale Library on Saturday 17th August at 11.30am. This play is for a general youth audience. On Saturday 10th August Graffiti Theatre Company’s Goodnight Rowan will be performed in Irish at 11am in Leabharlann Baile Bhuirne. English language performances are scheduled to take place on Saturday 17th August in Mallow at 11am, and in Fermoy at 2pm. Goodnight Rowan is suitable for ages 4 – 7. This puppet encounter gently deals with the topic of wellbeing and the power of sharing our worries with someone we trust. All puppet shows are ‘relaxed’ performances. Further Opportunities |
