Cork Cultural Companions is an Age & Opportunity Arts initiative, delivered by Muintir Cork and supported by the HSE and Cork City and County Councils. Cork Cultural Companions has local networks of members who attend events together regularly in Cork City, Mallow, Bantry and East Cork.

The 69th Cork International Choral Festival

 

We can't wait to welcome you to Cork!

The 69th Cork International Choral Festival, taking place from the 1st to 5th May. While the full programme of events will be revealed next week, we're excited to share with you the complete lineup of Educational Events now. From conducting workshops to workshop on medieval chanting, a diverse array of events is on offer - and all of them are free! We're proud to have partnered with Sing Ireland to bring you these incredible events.



We're also thrilled to invite you to join us and watch the popular National Competitions! We would like to thank this year's event sponsors, Ibec and Bus Éireann/TFI, for supporting the Ibec Workplace Choir of the Year Competition and the National School Competitions.

Calling all choristers, composers, music students and professionals!

2024 Gala Concerts

Opening Gala - Stanford at 100

"Stabat Mater"

Wednesday 1st May, 8pm

Cork City Hall



To commemorate 100 years since the death of Irish composer Charles Villiers Stanford, the opening Gala concert is centred around his Stabat Mater, written in 1907. The Cork School of Music Symphony Orchestra and the Fleischmann Choir will be conducted by John O’Brien.

Choir-In-Residence Chamber Choir Ireland, conducted by Paul Hillier, will once again grace the Festival with its presence for a concert in the beautiful surrounds of St. Fin Barre's Cathedral.

Fleischmann International
Gala Concert

Saturday 4th May, 3pm & 8pm

Cork City Hall



Witness some of the world’s top amateur choirs. This exquisite concert will offer audiences the opportunity to hear the choirs competing for the Fleischmann International Trophy, one of the most prestigious choral prizes in Europe. In 2023 the Fleischmann Competition will take place in two sessions, at 3pm and 8pm.

The State Choir LATVIJA is internationally acclaimed both for its academic excellence as well as its innovative projects. The choir collaborate with world-class conductors and orchestras, and is requested at prestigious concert halls and festivals.

EXAUDI is one of the world’s leading vocal ensembles for new music. Their special affinity is for the radical edges of contemporary music, at home equally with complexity, microtonality and experimental aesthetics.

Closing Gala

Concert

Cork City Hall



Join us for a joyful celebration of song and colour! International choirs will present choral music representative of their musical and ethnic backgrounds in a celebratory final Closing Gala Concert. The week will draw to a close and our international choirs will mark the end of a superb festival with a joyful and colourful celebration of song.
