Cork Cultural Companions is an Age & Opportunity Arts initiative, delivered by Muintir Cork and supported by the HSE and Cork City and County Councils. Cork Cultural Companions has local networks of members who attend events together regularly in Cork City, Mallow, Bantry and East Cork.

Call for Cork County Culture Night 2024 Events

Taking place on Friday the 20th of September, Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir is an annual all-island public event celebrating culture, creativity and the arts. We are inviting arts organisations, community groups, artists and others to submit proposals for events that will be programmed as part of Culture Night. Cork County Culture Night will take place in the 17 Culture Night Hub Towns of Fermoy, Mitchelstown, Mallow, Charleville, Clonakilty, Skibbereen, Bantry, Bandon, Kinsale, Carrigaline, Passage West, Macroom, Baile Mhuirne, Midleton, Youghal, Cobh and Watergrasshill, as well as on the islands and in other locations across the county. An online information session will be held on the 14th of March at 1.00pm for those interested in delivering events. To register, email arts@corkcoco.ie

Recruiting: Culture Night Programme Coordinator and Culture Night Marketing Coordinator

We are seeking a marketing coordinator and a programme coordinator to lead the delivery and promotion of the Cork County Culture Night Programme 2024. LHQ Exhibition Tour

'3+5' presents art works that look at knowledge manipulation and re-framing of history. Themes of censorship are explored by the artist, who uses books in various languages and other printed materials to build up a sculptural installation. The tour will take place on March 7th at 1pm, and will last for approximately 40 minutes.

Curator Clinics in County Hall

VAI Clinics

County Cork based artists are invited to join curator clinics with Caimin Walsh and Niamh Brown from Ormston House, Ann Davoren of Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre, and Jessica Bonenfant Coogan, Artistic Director at Greywood Arts East Cork at County Hall. On the day each of these guest specialists will speak one to one with artists and other creative practitioners about their own practice and how they work with artists. It will be an opportunity to get an insight into their thinking and to make a connection.

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2024

Cork County Council is delighted to announce its 2024 Seachtain na Gaeilge programme which is delivered by the Irish Language Office and the Library and Arts Service. Seachtain na Gaeilge is a national celebration of our native language and runs from 1st to 17th of March. The theme in Cork this year is storytelling.

James L Hayes 'The Score' to feature in CCIs pre Olympic programme in Paris

Score

A new version of 'The Score', developed by Assistant Arts Officer Maeve Mulrennan with artist James L Hayes is being shown as part of the Sports Gaéliques  pre- Olympics programme at the Centre Culturelle Irlandais in Paris. The exhibition runs from March 7th until May 19th.

Cork County Council Writer-in-Residence, Victoria Kennefick invites applications for a one-to-one online mentorship for a writer based in Co. Cork at any stage of their creative journey who cannot access library-based in-person workshops due to accessibility issues or any other barriers to participation. To apply, please send in a sample of your work – no more than 6 poems or 2000 words of fiction or prose to arts@corkcoco.ie. Deadline:18th March 2024.

We are seeking arts Facilitators working in any medium, for example visual arts, literature, or crafts and musicians who are interested in performing in community settings, to be part of our panel. The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday the 15th of March 2024.

Cork County Council Invites Applications for the Creative Startup Scheme 2024

We are accepting applications for the Creative Startup Scheme 2024. The scheme supports artists, designers and craftspeople to establish retail spaces, as well as reinforcing the Council’s work in revitalising commercial centres in towns and villages. Cork County Council will accept proposals that may be for the development of temporary or seasonal pop-up shops in vacant retail units. The maximum amount that may be awarded for any one project will be €3,000. Applications will be assessed on a competitive basis.
