Cork Cultural Companions is an Age & Opportunity Arts initiative, delivered by Muintir Cork and supported by the HSE and Cork City and County Councils. Cork Cultural Companions has local networks of members who attend events together regularly in Cork City, Mallow, Bantry and East Cork.

NSQF announces Spring Series of concerts

NATIONAL STRING QUARTET FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES SPRING CONCERT SERIES 
The National String Quartet Foundation is delighted to announce its spring 2024 concert season of 25 chamber music concerts in 19 venues nationwide. 

The series features tours by the internationally acclaimed Piatti Quartet, Katherine Hunka’s outstanding Solas Quartet, returning for its third tour for the Foundation, the Ora Quartet, an exciting new group led by Cork violinist Siún Milne, and the Vanbrugh & Friends. Programmes include a new quartet ‘Pass the Hat’ by Katherine Hunka and quartets by Emma O’Halloran, Charlotte Harding, Fanny Mendelssohn, Benjamin Britten and E.J. Moeran. These alongside treasured masterworks by Beethoven, Borodin, Brahms, Dvořák, Haydn and Felix Mendelssohn 


This spring series follows an autumn season which presented 9 groups playing 51 concerts in 34 venues nationwide. Solas Quartet January 17-21 Vanbrugh & Friends February 9-11 Ora Quartet February 14-18 Piatti Quartet March 6-10 Vanbrugh & Friends March 22-24 & April 18-21 

Visiting: Baltimore, Bandon, Carrick-on-Shannon, Castlebar, Clifden, Cork, Drogheda, Dublin, Kenmare, Limerick, Listowel, Rosscarbery, Skibbereen, Sligo, Tullamore, Waterford, Wexford, Youghal The series is supported by the Arts Council, RTÉ Lyric FM, the Contemporary Music Centre, University College, Cork, Cork City Council and Cork County Council.
