EVERYMAN MADE
EVERYMAN MADE | The Everyman, Cork

Last week, The Everyman launched its Spring Summer 2025 Season. With this season, we are launching EVERYMAN MADE: world-class theatre made by The Everyman for Cork and beyond. We are proud to announce four outstanding plays as part of our first EVERYMAN MADE season.

Making History | The Everyman, Cork | 11–26 Apr 2025
MAKING HISTORY BY BRIAN FRIEL
Directed by Des Kennedy

The Everyman is proud to present a major revival of Brian Friel’s masterpiece about resistance, revolution and the remaking of heroes.

First performed by Field Day in 1988, the play follows Gaelic leader Hugh O’Neill in the events before and after the Battle of Kinsale and examines who gets to decide how history is recorded, told and retold.

Escaped Alone | The Everyman, Cork | 12–14 Jun 2025
ESCAPED ALONE BY CARYL CHURCHILL
Directed by Annabelle Comyn

Hatch Theatre Company and The Everyman in association with Once Off Productions are delighted to present the Irish premiere of Caryl Churchill’s 2016 revolutionary play, Escaped Alone, as part of Cork Midsummer Festival.

Intimate and vast, domestic and wild, Churchill’s vision presents a world hurtling towards its own destruction. Escaped Alone viciously satirises contemporary capitalist culture while it celebrates the (often unheard) voices and feelings of aging women, and the resilience it takes to survive 70 years.

Happy Hour | The Everyman, Cork | 19–22 Jun 2025
HAPPY HOUR
Written and directed by Daniel Kramer

The Everyman is proud to present Daniel Kramer’s cabaret show Happy Hour as part of Cork Midsummer Festival.

There will be games. There will be prizes. There will be booze, and there will be music. It’s Happy Hour! Come and enjoy some cabaret, theatre, carnival and cocktails at The Everyman.

Spend an hour hearing some of today’s greatest pop tunes reimagined and some classics reinvented as three world-class cabaret performers take us on a wild ride of life in the age of capitalism.

The Beacon | The Everyman, Cork | 4–19 Jul 2025
THE BEACON BY NANCY HARRIS
Directed by Sara Joyce

Written by prolific BAFTA-nominated playwright and screenwriter, Nancy Harris (The Dry), The Beacon is a thrilling and darkly funny family drama that asks can we ever really know the truth of a thing – a person, a place or a work of art? And if we could, would we want to?

First commissioned by Druid in 2019, and recently produced by the Irish Rep in New York, The Everyman is proud to produce this major new revival for its long-awaited Cork premiere.

Cork Biodiversity Hub Upcoming Events

We are delighted to bring you the next instalment of events at the
Cork Biodiversity Hub, Ballincollig P31PX67. We opened in February with the wonderful presentation of Jim Wilson and now this month we have two very interesting topics to explore.

The first is on Composting: filthy fun for a better world. Thursday March 20 at 7.30pm, our guest speaker is Donal O' Leary of Waste Down. Donal is an absolute authority on composting; on the microbiology of the soil. He is continually trialling different techniques and has much experience to share on the efficacy and satisfaction of making your own top class compost at home.

The second presentation; Greening our back gardens for biodiversity. Thursday March 27th at 7.30pm. Delivered by Rosemarie McDonald the Biodiversity Officer of Cork City Council. Rosemarie is keen to see everyone looking at their gardens and finding ways to create and support habitat. Especially now at this time of biodiversity crisis, nature needs all our help. Come along and learn what you can do.

For both events it is important you book a place by emailing us as we need to keep an eye on numbers. corkbiodiversityhub@gmail.com

Thank you
Looking forward to hearing from you

Care and Repair Age Action’s Care and Repair does small DIY jobs, free of charge, for older people

Care and Repair

Age Action’s Care and Repair does small DIY jobs, free of charge, for older people to help them maintain their homes and their independence. Operating in Cork, Dublin and Galway, Care and Repair does jobs that might be more difficult to complete as we get older but not big enough to call in a tradesperson.

Making Home Safer for Return From Hospital

Age Action’s Care and Repair prioritises carrying out jobs in the homes of older people who are being discharged or have recently been discharged from hospital. If someone is coming out of hospital, no matter where they live, we would support them to make sure their house is safe. Care and Repair can remove trip hazards, install handrails, replace toilet seats or move a bed downstairs to make sure the home is ready for their return. For any job that is too big or specialised for our team we can provide details of local tradespeople.
