Cork Cultural Companions is an Age & Opportunity Arts initiative, delivered by Muintir Cork and supported by the HSE and Cork City and County Councils. Cork Cultural Companions has local networks of members who attend events together regularly in Cork City, Mallow, Bantry and East Cork.

June events at Mallow Library

 Hello everyone,

 

Now that Summer has well and truly arrived, June is bringing fresh reads, exciting events and enjoyable activities for everyone.  Whether you are looking for your next great book, joining one of our library groups or simply enjoying a quiet moment reading the newspapers, we are delighted to have you with us.

Young Adult Creative Writing Showcase                               Saturday 6th June at 2:30pm

Join us for an afternoon celebrating the creativity & imagination of our Young Adult Book Club.  Everyone welcome.

 

 

Adult Bingo                                                                                              Friday 12th June at 2pm

Come along and enjoy some conversation, community and fun!  Lots of sweet treats to be won!  No booking required.

 

 

“The History of Doneraile Court”                                                Saturday 13th June at 2pm                  

Discover the story behind Doneraile Court.  Presented by Mary Leamy, OPW, learn how Doneraile Court grew from a family estate into a national heritage landmark beloved by visitors from across Ireland.

Everyone welcome.  No booking required.

 

 

Dementia Awareness Workshops                                              Tuesday 30th June: 10am – 12noon, 12:30pm – 2pm & 3pm – 5pm

Dementia is not simply a health issue, but a social issue that requires a community response.  Workshops presented by The Alzheimer Society of Ireland.

Age Action – Digital Literacy Classes:       Volunteers Required.

Volunteer tutors are required for Age Action’s One-to-One Digital Literacy classes starting soon in Mallow Library.   Classes will run for 5 weeks, Fridays 10:30am – 12:30pm.

Celebrating Our Young Artists                       

Our Exhibition for the month of June is Art by the students of Ballyhass Primary School.  As part of their Cruinniu na nÓg wish, the children of Ballyhass Primary School are exhibiting their artwork in Mallow Library throughout June.  Pop in throughout June and view this community exhibition of imagination and expression.

 

And don’t forget we also have our regular weekly groups – Irish Conversation circles, Creative Writing group, HSE mother & baby groups, Knitting groups, Active retirement card playing group, book clubs, Tots time, LEGO Club and Storytime.

 

We think we have something for everyone!  We hope to see you soon.
