Supporting Farmer Health and Wellbeing: Farmer Health Check Day Comes to Fermoy
Farmers play a vital role in our communities, and looking after their own health and wellbeing is just as important as caring for their farms. To support the health needs of farmers and rural communities, Avondhu Blackwater Partnership CLG, in partnership with the Rural Community Health Project and a wide range of support organisations, is hosting a dedicated Farmer Health Check Day.
The event takes place at:
Cork Marts, Corrin Event Centre, Fermoy, Co. Cork

This free event offers farmers and members of the wider rural community the opportunity to access valuable health information, practical supports, and advice in one welcoming location.
A Day Focused on Your Health
A wide range of health checks, services, and information stands will be available throughout the day, including:
Cardiac health screening, including cholesterol and glucose testing through the Irish Heart Foundation mobile unit
Cancer prevention information and support
Smoking cessation advice and support
Hearing information and supports
Mental health and farm support services
Financial wellbeing guidance
Farm succession advice
The event is designed to make it easier for farmers to access important supports while connecting with organisations that understand the unique challenges of rural life.
Guest Speakers and Information Sessions
Visitors can also attend a series of short guest talks taking place from 1:00pm – 2:00pm in the Sheep Ring.

Meet Local Support Organisations
A wide range of organisations will be available throughout the day with information stands offering advice and guidance.
Health-focused supports include cardiac care, health promotion, community dietetics, cancer care, smoking cessation, physiotherapy and occupational therapy information, sexual health advice, and hearing supports.
Visitors can also connect with organisations supporting rural wellbeing, including financial advice services, addiction supports, advocacy groups, mental health organisations, and community services.
A Welcoming Community Event
With free refreshments provided and opportunities to meet local support providers, the Farmer Health Check Day is a chance to take time for yourself, ask questions, and discover the supports available in your area.
