Cork Lifelong Learning Festival 2026

Cork Lifelong Learning Festival 2026: A Celebration of Curiosity, Community and Connection

From Wednesday 22nd to Wednesday 29th April 2026, Cork once again transforms into a city of shared ideas, creativity, and discovery as the Cork Lifelong Learning Festival returns.

With over 370 free events taking place across the week, the festival invites people of all ages and backgrounds to try something new, whether that’s attending a workshop, joining a guided walk, exploring local history, or simply connecting with others through shared interests.

At its heart is a simple message: learning is for everyone, and it happens everywhere

A Festival Built on Participation

Guided by its motto “Investigate, Participate, Celebrate,” the festival encourages curiosity and active involvement. Events are led by volunteers, community groups, educators, and local organisations, creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where learning feels social, informal, and accessible.

Whether you’re discovering a new skill or revisiting an old interest, the festival offers a unique opportunity to engage with Cork’s vibrant learning community.

Cultural Companions at the Festival

This year, Cultural Companions are proud to host two events:

🍲 Cultural Companions presents Clara Cooks
📍 Cumann na Daoine, Catherine Street, Youghal
📅 Thursday 23rd April | 16:00 – 18:00

Join us for a food demonstration with Ballymaloe trained chef Clara who will prepare some simple dishes, share stories behind the food, and provide helpful tips on batch cooking for one or two persons

Free but limited spaces. Booking essential

🧠 Memory Workshop: Changing Landscapes
📍 Civic Trust House, Cork City
📅 Friday 24th April

While rooted in memory and place, this workshop invites participants to reflect on how landscapes, both physical and personal, evolve over time. Through shared stories and discussion, it connects individual experiences with Cork’s wider cultural and social history.

Why It Matters

The Cork Lifelong Learning Festival is a celebration of community and connection. It highlights how learning can support wellbeing, creativity, and social inclusion.
