Discover National Heritage Week in Cork 16th to 24th August 2025

National Heritage Week is back from Saturday 16th to Sunday 24th August 2025, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting cultural celebrations of the year across Cork city and county.

Organised by the Heritage Council, Heritage Week invites people of all ages to explore Ireland’s built, natural, and cultural heritage through a huge variety of free and family-friendly events. From historic walking tours and storytelling sessions to nature walks, craft demonstrations, open houses, and community exhibitions—there’s something for everyone.

πŸŽ‰ There are hundreds of events happening across Cork alone, making it a perfect time to connect with the stories, places, and traditions that make our region unique.

🌟 What Can You Expect?

Here’s just a flavour of what’s happening across the city and county during the week:

  • Walking tours of historic towns like Cobh, Kinsale, and Youghal

  • Open access to local heritage buildings not usually open to the public

  • Family-friendly workshops in crafts, archaeology, and storytelling

  • Nature trails and biodiversity events in parks and woodlands

  • Talks and exhibitions in libraries, galleries, and community halls

  • Heritage celebrations in Irish-speaking areas like Cape Clear

These events are hosted by local heritage groups, historians, artists, environmental organisations, and passionate volunteers—many of whom are opening their doors and sharing their stories with the public.
