Cork Cultural Companions is an Age & Opportunity Arts initiative, delivered by Muintir Cork and supported by the HSE and Cork City and County Councils. Cork Cultural Companions has local networks of members who attend events together regularly in Cork City, Mallow, Bantry and East Cork.

The Knot on the Fly
Exhibition at the Mall Arts Centre Youghal, March 14-23
Save the date for the culmination of artist Katie Nolan's year-long project investigating the historical, social, cultural and artistic heritage of Youghal Carpets and the myriad textile traditions of East Cork. This Creating Connections project was supported by Creative Ireland and Cork County Council.
  • Exhibition opening event: Friday, March 14 at 6pm (doors open at 5pm)
  • Conversation with the artist: Saturday, March 15 at noon
  • Gallery open March 15–23, 10am–4:30pm
Greywood Arts & artist Katie Nolan present 'The Knot On The Fly', an exhibition exploring the rich legacy of the Youghal Carpet Factory through the voices of former workers and their families. Using video, installation, 3D prints, letterpress, and printmaking, Katie reflects on the human hand as technology, questioning how touch, craft, and tradition are evolving in a digital age.

Funded by Cork County Council and CreativeIrl, this Creating Connections project engaged with East Cork's multi-ethnic community, using textiles as a bridge for dialogue and knowledge-sharing.
