March at the Glucksman

March 2025 at the Glucksman

As we bid farewell to one season of extraordinary art experiences, we are excited to usher in the next.

There is only one-week left to explore Cecily Brennan: PRESSURE and In Pieces: Navigating the Body in Irish Contemporary Art before these exhibitions close on Sunday 9 March. To mark the final week of these remarkable exhibitions and to celebrate International Women's Day, you are invited to hear a first-hand account of Cecily's practice at an artist talk on Saturday 8 March.

From Monday 10 March to Wednesday 12 March, Gallery 1 will briefly close for the installation of Roots & Reflections. This charming exhibition will open on Thursday 13 March and will see more than 900 nature-themed artworks by primary and post-primary students hung on the walls of the Glucksman.

The full gallery will close from Monday 17 March to Friday 28 March while we install our upcoming exhibitions. While our gallery doors are closed, we invite you to explore our award-winning creative activities online

Roots and Reflections

From 13 to 16 May, discover nature through the eyes of primary and post-primary students.

Roots and Reflections: Young creators explore nature will present artworks by over 900 primary and post-primary students who visited the Glucksman in spring through our education programme. Taking inspiration from nature-themed artworks by Irish contemporary artists as well as the University College Cork campus, where 451 species of flora and fauna have been recorded, students were invited to observe, experience and respond to their environment.  This March, you're invited to explore these charming responses to the beauty of our natural world.

Behind the Scenes

Thank you for sharing your creativity with us!

This season, we invited you to explore, experiment and connect through art. And Cork, you did just that!

From daring to discover a new artistic medium with Seiko Hayase each week; to slowing down and nurturing your creative spirit with Amal Hope, this season of workshops has been nothing short of a joy to facilitate.

We were particularly delighted to hear of the friendships formed at Brush Up!: A painting course for older people. After meeting in a creative course, two participants decided to make a weekly trip to the Glucksman together. They stopped for a coffee at Léa's and then settled in to learn a new artistic skill from Stephen Doyle. This story made our hearts sing!

Our next season of creative workshops inspired by our upcoming exhibitions is on the way. Stay tuned to be the first to hear more!
