Triskel February Events

Hi Cork Cultural Companions   Welcome to the Triskel Newsletter for February. After a (relatively!) quiet start to the year, we are back in full swing in February with lots for you to enjoy across visual arts, live music and cinema   Sample-Studios in partnership with Cork City Council are offering a monthly guided tour of Island City – Cork’s Urban Sculpture Trail. The first walk of the new year is on Thursday 13 February. The walks will begin and end at Triskel, they’re free and booking is essential.   Áine Andrews returns with her popular series on Famous Paintings and their Hidden Histories on Tuesday 4 February. First up for discussion is La Loge by Pierre-Auguste Renoir.   Tetiana Milshyna will finish her residency in Triskel Sample Project Space on Tuesday 4 February with Viktoria Kondratieva starting hers on Friday 7 February.   Music this month features classical (Sonoro Quartet), traditional Irish (Derek Hickey, Liz & Yvonne Kane, and Macdara Ó Faoláin) and singer-songwriter (Dave Hause).   There’s so much to see in Triskel Cinema this month. We’re especially looking forward to the season of fascinating films from Chantal Akerman, including the one which was named as the greatest film of all time in Sight and Sound’s critic’s poll in 2022.   For Valentine’s this year, we will have our traditional screening of Casablanca with the addition this year of another classic, When Harry Met Sally… Incidentally, Harry and Sally actually watch and discuss Casablanca!   Literature fans will love the documentary about Edna O’Brien. Blue Road is showing Sun 16 – Wed 19 Feb.   Keep scrolling for all that’s happening this month at Triskel and also save the dates for our season of David Lynch – happening 16, 18 and 19 March.
