Coro de Camara Aurora Choir from Costa Rica perform Friday 3 May at 3p.m. Tory Top Library

Coro de Camara Aurora (Costa Rica) Friday 3 May at 3 p.m. Tory Top Library

All Welcome Admission Free

The Aurora Chamber Choir was founded in February 2011 in Alajuela, Costa Rica as an independent group with the purpose of promoting the city's choral musical culture. We give people without musical training the opportunity to expand their vocal possibilities with higher level productions than amateur choirs in the region are typically able to offer. The Choir has represented Costa Rica on tours throughout Panama, El Salvador, Colombia and Spain, in different festivals and as a special guest at embassies and other official organizations. For example, we have presented to the Organization of Ibero-American States OEI, the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, the Autonomous University of Madrid in Spain, the Central American Integration System SICA and the Embassy of Costa Rica in El Salvador.

It has stood out for the variety of its productions, having included in its programs participation with rock bands, concert bands, orchestras, children's choirs, as well as prominent classical and popular music artists, including Humberto Vargas, known winner of

´Viña del Mar´. In 2015, Aurora was the chosen choir to sing the “Ganganelli Oratory” in its Premiere, conducted by its composer, Berny Siles.

Every Song: My Journey to Record all of Ireland's Birds, presented by Sean Ronayne

Ornithologist and wildlife sound recordist Seán Ronayne is on a personal mission to record the vocalisations of every bird species in Ireland. For three years, he has travelled across bogs, mountains, remote islands and native woodlands documenting nearly 200 bird species, including those on the cusp of extinction. Seán shares his story and his unique, and often surprising, recordings of mimicry, distinct dialects, and birds never recorded in Ireland before. His journey reveals the beauty and importance of sound, and what listening can tell us about the state of our natural world.
