Cork Cultural Companions is an Age & Opportunity Arts initiative, delivered by Muintir Cork and supported by the HSE and Cork City and County Councils. Cork Cultural Companions has local networks of members who attend events together regularly in Cork City, Mallow, Bantry and East Cork.

2023 Christmas at the Cathedral,

October is traditionally a month packed with announcements at our festival office! 



First things first, as many of you have already been enquiring, we are thrilled to announce that our fundraiser event, Christmas at the Cathedral, will be returning on Saturday, 25th November, and Sunday, 26th November! 



For all Irish composers, or composers based in Ireland: this month we also launched the 2024 edition of the Seán Ó Riada Composition Competition (application closing date: 8th December).

October brings us the first festival application deadlines - Entries for the 2024 Fleischmann International Trophy Competition are closing on 31st October. Read on for full details.

Gospel at the Cathedral

There are still some tickets left for this extraordinary fundraising evening celebrating the vibrant world of gospel music and contemporary vocal performances in the amazing surroundings of Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral, Cork.



Joining us for this special occasion is The NuVoices Project, all the way from Italy, bringing their unique blend of gospel and contemporary music to the stage. In addition, we are thrilled to feature some of the finest gospel choirs from Cork, including the Carrigtwohill Gospel Choir, the White Horse Gospel Choir, and the Carrigaline Gospel Choir.

Join us in the magical surroundings of Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral for two nights of music and readings, this year under the iconic title 'A Cork Christmas'. Due to its overwhelming popularity in past editions, we're doubling up this year to ensure more of you can enjoy this much-loved event.

2024 Seán Ó Riada Composition Competition

Calling all composers born or based in Ireland!



Exciting news - Our annual Seán Ó Riada Composition Competition is now open. Be in with a chance of winning this esteemed composition competition and having your work premiered in St Fin Barre’s Cathedral by the acclaimed Chamber Choir Ireland on Friday 3rd May 2024.

Applications

Fleischmann International Trophy Competition

Each year some of the finest amateur choirs are selected to compete in the prestigious Fleischmann International Trophy Competition.


The selected choirs will also be scheduled for a range of additional Festival activities throughout the week including fringe concerts, church and informal performances, and much more!

Non-Competitive Choirs

The Festival has always featured great choirs from around the world on a non-competitive basis. Selected Non-Competitive Choirs are given the opportunity to present informal performances in various locations across Cork city and county, see some of Ireland’s beautiful countryside, meet with other choirs, attend Festival events, sing, mingle and soak up the Festival atmosphere.

Youth and Adults choirs from all over the country are invited to compete in Ireland's foremost choral festival in a variety of categories, including Male, Female & Mixed Voices, Chamber Choir & Ensembles, Youth Choirs, Light, Jazz & Popular Music, Church Music, and Workplace Choir of the Year Competition.

For its 69th edition, the Cork International Choral Festival once again offers a platform for Schools choirs from all over the country to perform, listen to and experience different expressions of the choral art:

Section 3: Mixed Voice Post-Primary

Should your choir be interested in joining us in Cork but not wish to enter into competition, you can participate non-competitively. This will give your choir the opportunity to be part of a world-renowned festival, while meeting and mingling with other visiting choirs.
