Welcome to the Triskel Cinema Newsletter. To prepare for the role of champion boxer Jake Lamotta, Robert De Niro spent hundreds of hours sparring with the real-life Lamotta, learning his exact footwork, and even got in the ring himself; the actor took part in at least three amateur Brooklyn bouts, winning on points.

From Sunday, you can catch Scorsese’s classic pugilist epic Raging Bull. We also screen Ann, a captivating Irish drama, telling the tragic story of pregnant Longford teenager Ann Lovett.

Coming in May, we have a host of fantastic films: these include Bergman Island helmer Mia Hansen-Løve’s gorgeous romantic drama One Fine Morning, as well as the spectacular Godland, which details one priest’s crisis-of-faith in the unforgiving Icelandic terrain. We screen the riveting Irish documentary Pray for Our Sinners. We’re also thrilled to screen Return to Seoul; this stunning drama explores South Korea-born French adoptee Freddie's journey, her search for her birth parents, and the complexities of culture and identity.
