Cork Cultural Companions is an Age & Opportunity Arts initiative, delivered by Muintir Cork and supported by the HSE and Cork City and County Councils. Cork Cultural Companions has local networks of members who attend events together regularly in Cork City, Mallow, Bantry and East Cork.

The Everyman Listings September 2022


Wingform Presented by Crash Ensemble

The exhibition is free and walk-ins are welcome.

Crash Ensemble has commissioned video artist and filmmaker Jack Phelan to create an installation responding to the visual themes of Irish composer Barry O’ Halpin’s ground-breaking work Wingform. It will be displayed in The Everyman’s back bar for three weeks in September.

THE STEWARD OF CHRISTENDOM – Presented by Gate Theatre

Gate Theatre presents a revival of The Steward of Christendom by Sebastian Barry to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the handover of Dublin Castle to the Provisional Government of Ireland.

Pitch’d Circus & Street Arts Festival invites you to see a unique show A Matter of Time by TeaTime Company at The Firkin Crane. Three performers disobey the laws of nature as they challenge each other to break gravity and reach the impossible. Newton, eat your heart out.

ANIMALS – Presented by Louise White Performance

In this interpretation of George Orwell’s Animal Farm, Louise White explores the spectrum of morality, injustice, and the human condition. Featuring ten performers and musicians, it experiments with the tools of the Theatre to reveal the instruments of power. 

DES BISHOP: MIA MAMMA – Presented by Lisa Richards

Mia Mamma is inspired by the ‘star’ of Des Bishop’s life, his mother. She died in March 2019 and, of course, it was sad, but he saw a lot of funny in that too and that’s what the show is about. 

PITCH’D CIRCUS & STREET ARTS FESTIVAL GALA – Presented by the Circus Factory SUN 18 SEP, 4PM TICKETS €21 | CONC. €19 | FAMILY OF FOUR €64 
Pitch’d Festival brings both Irish and International artists to Cork for a contemporary Circus & Street Arts Festival. Hosted by the legendary Bryan Quinn, the Gala show is an opportunity to see the cream of the crop perform sweet and juicy numbers. 

GHOSTLIGHT by Ger FitzGibbon – Presented by Theatre Makers Ltd

This new play by Ger FitzGibbon, written specially for The Everyman during the period when the theatre was closed, explores the whole business of theatre and performance itself.

A unique collage of Kabuki dance and Irish storytelling, Forgotten has been a huge international success. It is a captivating portrayal of four elderly characters living in retirement homes around Ireland. Pat Kinevane’s haunting performance brings to life these sometimes forgotten voices of society.

Before is a new play with music, set in Clerys of Dublin, on the very day this iconic department store shuts – for good. Pontius is inside, trying to choose a gift for his estranged daughter, whom he hasn’t seen for almost 20 years. This father’s journey is both beautiful and strange.
