Cork Cultural Companions is an Age & Opportunity Arts initiative, delivered by Muintir Cork and supported by the HSE and Cork City and County Councils. Cork Cultural Companions has local networks of members who attend events together regularly in Cork City, Mallow, Bantry and East Cork.

Cork Midsummer Festival

 

This year, Cork Midsummer Festival invites you to experience the festival through a variety of strands and trails: Stories And Places; Music And Voices; The City At Night; Great New Shows - Great City Stages; & Connection.
 
Each week from now until the festival, we'll be sending you a sneak peek at what's in store in each strand - this week: Music and Voices! 
Music performances by stunning Irish and International artists, events with a focus on the power of the voice to inspire, ignite, reveal and connect - all part of Cork Midsummer Festival 2022's Music and Voices strand.

We are incredibly excited to welcome Sharon Van Etten to CMF for an intimate performance in the iconic Cork Opera House, supported by Maija Sofia.
A spellbinding new work for string quartet and actor, by Cork composer John O’Brien. Performed by Derbhle Crotty and the acclaimed Carducci Quartet.
Frankenstein: How To Make

Under The Same Sky
A sound and visual experience by Kristina Inčiūraité which explores questions around climate change: can biodiversity be sustained in our individual and collective memory?
Fête de la Musique: A Hip Hop Celebration
Discover energising artists and celebrate the of rap and hip-hop in a joyful melting pot of electro-soul, RnB, afro-futurism and beatbox.
Quare
A celebration of queer theatre, music and visual art curated by Abbey Blake and produced by Arann Blake of punk band Pretty Happy – a vibrant and fun feast of alternative culture!
HTRK
Presenting the Cork debut of HTRK, one of the most unique and intriguing Australian groups of the 21st century, plus special guest Mantua, a project of Cork native Elaine Malone.
Tolü Makay
Acclaimed artist, singer, and songwriter Tolü Makay takes to the stage in an intimate performance at the Kino for Cork Midsummer Festival.
Camilla George
An explosive London-based band led by award-winning Nigerian born saxophonist Camilla George, and featuring many of the leading lights of the UK Jazz Scene.
And just announced - art-punk three-piece Pretty Happy will play Coughlan's on 17 June, with very special guests Big Boy Foolish!

Sing Your Failures
Celebrate failure, warble through fear, and give performance anxiety the stiff middle finger with Louise White's impromptu choir in Fitzgerald's Park.
Beatbox workshops
Learn the skills of beatboxing and perform, jam with other young musicians, improve your vocal techniques and make music using nothing but your mouths.
